We are all here on a journey of self-discovery

The UN estimates that around 385,000 babies are born each day.* Beautiful new waves in the ocean. We greet new life with eternal bliss, but never forget that light comes together with darkness. From womb to tomb, challenges test our resilience, strengthening our spirits and empowering our hearts.

Look around. Everyone in your life is a hero on their own journey of self-discovery. One person loses their loved ones to a terminal illness. Another one passes through their parents’ divorce. Now, do you see that old woman going alone to the theatre? Just look at her exquisite dress and her shawl, her dry grey but gracefully styled hair. She sits alone waiting for the performance, not reading a pamphlet, but relishing the memories brought back by a gold ring hanging loosely on her age-spotted hand.

Each of us has a story to tell.

My fascination with the mysteries of life has always come in tandem with my imagination. Every hardship I passed through transformed into a magical tale in my mind. But I’d never given it much thought.

After studying nanostructured metals at the university, I did my PhD in Physics and I enjoyed every second of it. Did you know that putting metals through 'hell' improves their strength? The more you deform them, the more nano-defects you create.** Think of these defects as nano-cracks – millions of them induced with a sole purpose: to make the metal stronger.

Isn’t it the same with humans?

Passing through loss and profound despair in my late twenties taught me an invaluable lesson that solidified as a core principle of my life: COMPASSION.

' Compassion is the wish to see others free from suffering. ' – Dalai Lama

Life is blissful. But sometimes we find ourselves trapped in the wheel of ignorance, running towards ilusive goals that we believe will bring us happiness and peace. Unfortunately, there are no winners in this marathon.

My biggest wish for everyone is to live a life full of love, serenity and inner freedom. Only then will we be able to see clearly how magnificent it is—just to be. Only then we will be able to open our hearts to unconditional love for others and our natural world.

I left my scientific career behind to focus on art, for I believe it is the best way to express my gratitude for the life that was given to me. Art is my love letter to life.

You’ll probably find some underlying themes in every novel I write. But, saying this, my primary goal is to entertain — to provide a heartfelt escape into a magical world, where fantasy and romance are interlaced with light, spirituality and philosophical meaning.

** This is an oversimplified description of severe plastic deformation that results in a high density of defects and a nano-crystalline structure.
